Humanitarian mission with Saint Francis Build in Puerto Rico

In the United States, in Maryland, my parish of Saint Camille is under the direction of the Franciscans. The Franciscans have St. Francis of Assisi as their patron saint, who put himself at the service of the poor. This parish organizes trips to different states in the USA to help rebuild homes and schools, and this enabled me to go to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

I wanted to go there to show my solidarity with these people who had lost everything in a matter of hours, an experience I myself had gone through two years earlier. I realized how difficult situations can be, especially when you lose everything you own without losing your faith. I heard some chilling testimonies, I saw the devastation of the hurricane and I told myself that I am one of God's privileged people.

We had to repair the roofs of houses, some of them really dilapidated. I had to scrape and paint a kitchen all by myself with joy. It was a good experience for me and the video says it all.
